Pre-cut cardboard kit for a fully functional tripod microscope (Culpeper design) with 70x magnification for direct and transmitted light mode observations

A look into the micro world

With an impressive 70x magnification, this beautiful cardboard microscop provides a fascinating insight into the world of small and tiny things. The powerful five-lens optical system was specially designed for this microscope in the optic workshop of Wolfgang Busch (Ahrensburg). It can be focussed very easily and precisely using an eccentric thrust wheel and, supported by built-in LED lighting, provides impressive results. The head of a tiny fruit fly can look as big as that of a bat!

Simply place over and discover

The ingenious three-legged design goes back to the English instrument maker Edmund Culpeper and was very widespread in the 18th and 19th centuries. Unlike almost all microscope types, however, the stage of this device can be removed so that it can be placed directly over an object - even a large one. This provides room for an infinite number of discoveries. With the stage in place, small specimens can also be viewed using the transmitted light method. The frame made of four layers of sandwich construction cardboard ensures reliable stability.
