A high-precision transmitted-light diffraction grid with 1,000 lines per millimetre makes the spectral colours appear. In this way, the handheld spectroscope enables the examination of different types of light, from the continuous spectrum of glowing bodies such as the sun or a light bulb to the line spectra of fluorescent lamps and many other light sources.
On a brightness-adjustable scale, the wavelength can be read to an accuracy of around 5 nanometres.

Please note: In contrast to the pictured German version, the English kit is printed in one color dark blue.
