Cardboard kit for a fully functional hand spectroscope that shows the spectrum of light and measures the wavelengths of the spectral lines.

Observe, understand and compare light spectra

A high-precision transmission diffraction grating with 1,000 lines per millimetre makes the spectral colours visible. In this way, the Hand Spectroscope enables the examination of different types of light, from the continuous spectrum of incandescent bodies such as the sun or a light bulb to the line spectra of fluorescent lamps and many other light sources.
On a brightness-adjustable scale, the wavelength can be read to an accuracy of approx. 5 nanometres.

For optimised and interference-free viewing, we also recommend our night-black velour paper.

You will need the following for the assembly:

a sharp craft knife or a scalpel
sharp scissors
a good universal glue (important: no superglue)
a dull knife or a folding tool
some thin white paper
a little bit of adhesive tape

Adult supervision:
Children under the age of 14 should use the kit under adult supervision to avoid risks due to improper handling.

Take care with small parts:
Choking hazard! Keep small parts out of the reach of small children.

Risk of injury:
Take particular care when handling pointed and sharp parts! Use sharp tools with care and take suitable safety measures to avoid injury.

Fire hazard:
Keep away from naked flames and heat sources. Product contains highly flammable materials.
Caution when focussing light: Do not expose lenses to direct sunlight unattended as they can create a focal point.

Danger from sunlight:
Never look directly at the sun through the spectroscope without using a suitable sun filter, as this can cause serious eye damage.

Adhesive use:
Observe the manufacturer's safety instructions when using adhesives. Work in well-ventilated areas and avoid skin or eye contact.

Intended use:
The kit should be used in accordance with the enclosed instructions. Independent modifications may impair the functionality and safety of the model built.
